Hi there, I’m Sam Cusano. I’m a freelance product designer helping companies create thoughtful experiences. As a designer and problem solver, I’m not just interested in designing interfaces. I’m interested in helping you with your systems, frameworks, processes and companies. Anything to help your customers and business operate better and more efficiently — in a way that makes people feel empowered.

I’m passionate about building & designing meaningful experiences to make sure your customers are satisfied when they’re using your products and services online.

How I work

Strategy

Ask first.
Before jumping into designing I always make sure that we’re asking the right questions and trying to accomplish the right challenges and goals. This stage includes market research, competitive analyses, conceptualization of business ideas, consulting, exploring possible solutions, and project planning and management.

Quality Assurance

Transparent process.
Complete overview of my design process through regular meetings. After the initial design versions, I’m happy to do user testing with your customers to ensure the best possible solutions for their needs.

Design

Problem solving.
At the end of this phase, you’ll have a design for your app or website. During the transition from wireframes into the final design, I collaborate with stakeholders, product managers, and engineers to be aligned on the design. This includes stakeholder management, project planning, UX/UI design, to the prototypes simulating final end results before development.

Following my passion

Most recently, I was working alongside the most talented group of individuals at Emissary from establishing a user research foundation, creating robust user profiles to crafting new product experiences for enterprise sales teams, former C-levels, and administrators.

Previously, I worked at Etsy, on various teams, designing brand collaterals for public and internal consumption, suites of enterprise applications, initiatives for growth, and establishing a cohesive design system.
